General description of the floor

Floor supporting structure in Room 0.5, with 2 main beams. "In the northwest corner of the room, the imprint of a very interesting structure survives. It was a special floor reinforcement comprising a diagonal beam, diameter 0.12 m and length 2.10 m, the ends of which were embedded into the north and west wall of the room (fig. 108, 109). A second beam, diameter 0.07 x 0.12 m, met the first at right angles, with one end embedded into the corner of the two walls and its other resting on approximately the center of the diagonal beam. In the floor of the ground level room exactly below is a stone slab which most likely functioned as the base for a wooden post that supported the termination of the second diagonal beam, just before it is encased in the wall."
