Description of the window frame
Well preserved imprints of a window with its wooden lattices on the unexcavated debris and ash, as well as chases and holes, on the external, west wall of room 0.5. The lattice "is made up of three horizontal timbers evenly distributed over the height of the opening, leaving a gap between them of 0.09- 0.14 m. The central timber has a section measuring 0.10 x 0.10 m, or around the same as the posts to which it is connected by lap joints. The other two timbers are planks, with width 0.10 - 0.12 m and thickness 0.03 m and were attached to the posts likely with lap joints. The central timber aimed to reinforce the frame, while the two boards simply blocked the opening." Palyvou 2019, p.251. The inner side of the window has no timber jambs, and the walls are curved at that part, which makes it difficult to understand whether they existed, and whether it was a 3d loadbaring frame.
