General description of the pier

At the NW end of the string wall of the descending stairway to the Lustral Basin (Room LVIII), there is a big rectangular poros stone which was the base for the timber part of the pier. On the upper surface of the poros stone base there are three mortises and at the eastern and southern corner there are chases for vertical timber elements. The wall to which this structural unit is adjusted is of rectangular poros blocks on a rubble stone base.
