General description of the space

Room XVI is located in the West Wing, behind the West facade of the palace. The excavator identified Room XVI as the "Archive of the Sanctuary" based on the finds. Its NW wall consisted part of the original West facade of the palace ('West' is used conventionally), before the later construction of the so-called "SW Expansion" of the palace (Rooms XVII-XXI). The NE and SE walls are of rubble stones. The SW border of the room consists of a mudbrick partition wall forming three niches with possible shelves for keeping admimistrative documents. Room XVI communicates directly with Rooms XIII and XXII, as well as with the corridor between Rooms XIV and XXIII.
