The column is built inside the West wall of Space III2. Along with two other columns in this space, on the East side, this column belongs to an earlier architectural phase pf Space III2, before it was partially replaced by the Staircase II B, and the openings between the columns blocked. Thus, the column probably played an auxiliary role in the support of the overlaying staircase.
