General description of the location

The Ramp is a massive construction of a large limestone blocks built in the Cyclopean style and it was intended to lead the roadway up from the gate to the Palace (with a preserved length of 24 m and width of 4.10-5.75m). The road is flanked by low side walls which form a kind of parapet and their ends towards the lion gate are marked by a large conglomerate block on each side which serve as antae and indicate the beginning of the ramp proper. The parapet wall on the west overlooking the Grave Circle probably mounted from the conglomerate anta block in a series of steps as the roadway ascended.
